Meet Clinical Investigation Alumni Eduardo Leon, MS '06 Clinical Research Coordinator II, MGH Center for Cancer Research Boston, Massachusetts Leon graduated from MGH Institute in 2006 and was the recipient of the Award for Academic Excellence in Clinical Investigation. Before attending the Institute, he worked at Arthur D. Little, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and The Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research where he developed and implemented bioanalytical assays to detect drugs and metabolites in biological fluids and tissues. Leon currently works at the MGH Center for Cancer Research where he coordinates clinical investigations seeking to identify prognostic colorectal cancer biomarkers. Laura Koller, MS '00Clinical Research Associate, Indevus Pharmaceuticals Lexington, Massachusetts After completing her master's, Koller joined a small biopharmaceutical company as a Project Manager of a Phase 3, multi-center study, with primary responsibility for identifying, recruiting and preparing 50 investigative sites. Andrea Montagno, RN, BSN, CAS '02Clinical Research Coordinator Women's Health and Infectious Diseases Women & Infants' Hospital, Providence, RI Montagno coordinates clinical trails in women's health at an academic health center, with a focus on contraception and sexually-transmitted diseases. Her nursing background continues to be evident in the counseling and caring that she brings to her clinical research role. Montagno recently returned to the Institute to complete a master's in nursing. Mary Naples, BSN, RN, CAS '04Research Nurse Consultant Central Massachusetts Working as an independent contractor, Naples divides her time among several challenging clinical research roles in academic and industrial settings. These include working as a study monitor for a contract research organization overseeing an oncology trail, as well as a research nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at the UMass Medical Center, where she remains a member of the clinical nursing faculty in pediatrics. Delia Y. Wolf, MD, MS '99Director, Quality Improvement and Human Subjects Protection Partners HealthCare System Boston, Massachusetts Wolf parlayed her Mentored Field Experience (MFE) into a job offer and now heads the group where she trained. Her office is charged with assuring that the highest clinical research standards are employed network-wide, with human research subject protection a guiding principle. Wolf's office remains a popular site for current Clinical Investigation students undertaking MFEs. |
