MGH Institute Scholarship Gala | June 12, 2008

AARP President and keynote speaker Jennie Chin Hansen, left, with MGH Institute President Janis Bellack

More than 300 attend, help raise $684,000

The MGH Institute's 2nd Annual Scholarship Gala was a tremendous success, as the event put an exclamation point on the year's fundraising effort that raised $684,000 to distribute to deserving students who attend the school. Legendary advertising executive Jack Connors was Master of Ceremonies for the event, held at the InterContinental Hotel on Boston's waterfront, while new AARP President Jennie Chin Hansen gave the keynote address. Two of the Institute's founders, Dr. Henry Mankin and Dr. Charles Sanders, told the audience of the school's history that led to its founding in 1977. Co-chairs for the event were John Connors III and Diana Scott. The Scholarship Gala benefits the President's Scholarship Fund, which promotes student diversity across all academic programs at the MGH Institute. Scholarships are a vital resource that make it possible for the Institute to recruit the best students and maintain a reliable pipeline of skilled practitioners into the fields of nursing, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, clinical investigation and medical imaging.
